Cover Stitch machine functions briefly explained
The swing foot on the Primo is different from the standard feet found on most cover stitch machines. Since the thread strands pass through the presser foot, the shaft and presser foot are combined into one unit. The result: a wonderfully curved decorative stitch. The number of needles and covering threads used can be combined as desired, so that a total of eight different seam variations are available to choose from – from narrow and delicate to lavish and decorative. Of course, the baby lock Primo masters the complete repertoire of classic cover stitches. The swing foot will operate with either one or two decorative threads, to achieve the Serpentine stitch or the Swing stitch.
The Primo has an innovative air threading system. A bellows activated at the push of a button threads the looper reliably and quickly with the ExtraordinAir system. It also has a sophisticated mechanical needle threader, easy to use and reliable. Both systems ensure that threading the Primo is child’s play. Simply select the desired thread, put it on or insert it, press the corresponding button and the thread is threaded as if by itself.
The stitch reliability of a coverstitch machine often makes or breaks the entire sewing project, as this finishing seam is often the last step before completion. Known for their reliability, our coverstitch machines not only help you achieve perfect finishing seams. baby lock machines also invite you to experiment with decorative threads in the looper and thus refine even the simplest fabrics with decorative seams.
The differential feed can be used to significantly improve the appearance of the sewn pieces. Unwanted seam puckering, unsightly gathered or wavy seams can easily be prevented, because the differential feed ensures optimal fabric feeding. In addition, the setting options can also be used to deliberately achieve imaginative gathered effects.
Another convenient feature of the baby lock Primo is the foot lifter attached to the side. The foot can be easily raised and lowered from the front with the right hand. This not only optimizes the work area, but also means you always have your sewing project in view and under control. Alternatively, you can also use the knee lever. This leaves both hands free to guide the fabric safely, as the presser foot is raised or lowered with the knee.
More freedom for your creative projects! The particularly wide throat of the Primo gives you the opportunity to easily complete even larger sewing projects. Thanks to the 140 mm wide opening, large quantities of fabric can be processed very easily or even decorated with the top cover stitches.
The Primo leaves nothing to be desired in terms of user-friendliness and fabric processing. Thanks to the ATD system, a groundbreaking baby lock invention, a flawless seam is always created – regardless of the type of fabric or thread and without any manual readjustment! It is not even necessary for the cover threads. The tedious search for the right thread tension is a thing of the past with baby lock sewing machines.
With a speed of 1500 stitches per minute, the Primo is very fast. For certain fabrics or for your own working pace, it is easy to slow the stitching down or speed up. With the continuously adjustable speed control, you can adjust it as you work.
If the foot is raised, the feed dog is automatically lowered. This makes it considerably easier to insert heavier or fluffy fabrics. It is also considerably easier when having to stitch over crosswise seams.
You can store important items in the practical accessory compartment, which is located under the spool holder. The delivery includes:
• Tweezers
• Needles
• Hand needle threader
• Replacement needle screws
• Screwdriver for needle screws
• Brush with guide for inserting needles
There is a magnetic storage area on the accessory compartment, for example for storing needles.
While most machines use angled needles that can push and damage the fabric, the needles on baby lock sewing machines have vertical needle penetration. This exclusive feature protects your fabric and prevents the needles from being damaged. It also gives you greater power when sewing.
All baby lock sewing machines are very user-friendly and comfortable to sew. The features mentioned above are complemented by a number of other conveniences. All machines have long-lasting and powerful LED lighting, a stable telescopic thread guide and precisely adjustable foot pressure. The Primo also has a magnetic needle tray. The needle screws are also secured with a plate. This is convenient and protects the thread, because the screws no longer have to be screwed down when no needle is being used.
Wherever sewing takes place, fibers fly. Regular cleaning is essential due to the sewing dust. This prevents large amounts of lint from piling up under the stitch plate and affecting sewing. The side flap on the Primo can be opened, which makes cleaning much easier.
The Primo also has a safety feature. The machine does not sew if the covers are open, or the foot up. This reduces potential sources of error.
