RevolutionAirTM system
Since the company was founded, baby lock has been constantly working on groundbreaking technical innovations and continuously expanding its product range. With the Gloria, another milestone has been reached.
In addition to the well-known features of the earlier baby lock combination machines, it boasts the so-called RevolutionAirTM system. This air threading system ensures quick and easy threading of the loopers and now even the needles in just a few simple steps.
The knee lift and speed control offer unrivalled comfort and help you with complicated sewing projects. When the foot is up, the machine does not start sewing, guaranteeing additional safety. The tried-and-tested automatic thread delivery system (ATD), which eliminates the need to manually adjust the thread tension, also makes things easier.

Automatic thread delivery system (ATD)
Another of baby lock’s revolutionary inventions is the ATD. This eliminates the need for constant adjustment of tension controls, and self adjusts for whatever fabric is placed under the presser foot. Two layers then four layers? No problem whatsoever! Fleece to organza becomes a breeze!

Speed regulation
The speed control on the Gloria ensures that your stitching will be an enjoyable experience! Whether you are a tortoise or a hare, Gloria will keep you comfortable. Massive bridesmaid dress to shorten? Full speed ahead! Topstitching that hem carefully? Slow her right down for total control.

Knee lift
Use of a knee lift has long been popular in industry. By adding it to the Gloria, this has enabled precise positioning of the fabric before lowering the foot. Both hands are free to hold the project. Wanting to pivot with chain stitch? Use the knee lift to avoid slippage.

Sewing machine functions briefly explained
The baby lock looper system is based on industrial machines and is therefore particularly robust. With mechanical precision, reliable stitch formation is guaranteed at all times. The highlight: whatever fits through the looper can be sewn. This opens up completely new horizons for all kinds of thread fun.
The Gloria has two innovative air threading systems. With the ExtraordinAir system, a compressor activated at the touch of a button threads the hook threads reliably and quickly. The RevolutionAir system even enables the needles to be threaded using air. These systems make threading the Gloria child’s play. Simply select the desired thread, insert it, press the corresponding button and the thread is threaded automatically.
Rolled hem, flatlock seam or coverstitch: With its up to 8 threads, the Gloria enables a very large selection of decorative effects or seam combinations and, of course, the unique wave seam is also included.
Our combined baby lock machines are designed so that they can be used both as a fully-fledged overlock machine and as a fully-fledged cover machine. However, combination machines can do even more, as both areas work together. This means that, in principle, any overlock seam can be sewn in combination with any coverstitch seam. So you can experiment and combine to your heart’s content.
The appearance of the stitching can be greatly improved using the differential feed. Unwanted seam puckering, unattractive gathered or wavy seams can be easily prevented, as the differential feed ensures optimum fabric feed. The adjustment options can also be used to achieve imaginative gathering.
When the stitch width dial is adjusted, the stitch finger and the upper blade move together. Thanks to this special technology, the seam width can be adjusted very easily. The actual seam width changes and not just the cutting width as is the case with conventional machines. Overcuts and undercuts are prevented and there is no need to adjust the amount of looper thread. The stitch becomes wider or narrower without the need for annoying and time-consuming adjustment.
Clearly arranged and accessible at all times, the stitch length can be set with just one dial. The stitch length can be varied from 0.75 to 4 to suit the project. The setting values are on a simple scale. At the same time, you can easily switch to the rolled hem function without having to carry out any additional steps. In the rolled hem setting, the stitch finger is in a lowered position. This enables a very narrow seam.
Thread paths and thread guides have been further simplified on the Gloria. The needle thread guide has been altered and the thread path for the chain looper has been improved. There is a small eyelet to bypass the chain looper, making it even easier to thread woolly lock or other thicker fancy yarns.
Another pleasant feature of the baby lock Gloria is the fact that the foot lift is on the side. This means that the foot can be easily raised and lowered from the front with the right hand. This not only optimises the working area. It also means you can always clearly see if the foot is still up. Alternatively, you might use the knee lift. This leaves both hands free to guide the fabric safely, as the presser foot is raised or lowered with the knee. The sewing machine also has an extra high, two-stage foot lift of up to 8 mm. This accommodates even higher layers of fabric.
The Gloria leaves nothing to be desired in terms of user-friendliness and fabric processing. Thanks to the ATD system, a pioneering baby lock invention, a flawless seam is always achieved – irrespective of the type of fabric or thread and without any manual readjustment! The tedious search for the right thread tension is a thing of the past with baby lock sewing machines.
More freedom for your creative projects! The extra wide opening of the Gloria allows you to control even larger sewing projects with ease. Large quantities of fabric can be easily processed and cover stitch can be placed in the centre of a project thanks to the 140 mm wide opening.
For two-thread seams, the Gloria’s subsidiary looper is easily engaged. As it is firmly connected to the upper looper, it cannot be misplaced or lost.
The foot pressure control on the Gloria allows you to customise the pressure to suit the type of fabric. Whether fine, firm or heavy fabric – the presser foot pressure can be easily adjusted accordingly. With the help of the easy-to-read scale, you can recognise and alter the pressure, and easily reset to the default.
You can store important utensils in the practical accessory compartment located under the spool holder. The scope of delivery includes
- Tweezers
- needles
- Spare needle screws
- Spare knife
- Screwdriver for needle screws
- Brush with guide for inserting the needles
While most machines use angled needles, which can push and damage the fabric, the needles on baby lock sewing machines are inserted vertically, piercing directly into the fabric. This exclusive function gives better needle penetration for heavier fabrics. It also gives you greater stitch reliability and strength when sewing.
All baby lock sewing machines are extremely user-friendly and comfortable to use. The features are more extensive than already mentioned!. For example, all machines have long-lasting and powerful LED lighting, a high level of stitch safety and a stable telescopic thread guide. With the Gloria, you can also look forward to speed regulation and a magnetic needle collection tray. The short blade/needle distance supports sharper curves. The needle screws are also secured with a small plate. This is convenient and thread-saving, as the screws no longer need to be tightened when a needle is removed.
Wherever sewing takes place, fibers fly. Regular cleaning is essential due to the sewing dust. This prevents large amounts of lint from piling up under the stitch plate and affecting sewing. The side flap on the Gloria can be opened, which makes cleaning much easier.
The Gloria also has a safety feature. The machine does not sew if the covers are open, or the foot up. This reduces potential sources of error.
Sewing, cutting, serging.
The world’s first overlock machine for domestic use was a baby lock. From the very beginning, the aim was to produce high-quality and simple overlock machines. Made in Japan is synonymous with Made in Germany and therefore meets our expectations exactly. Thanks to clever mechanics, the innovations in baby lock machines do not require computer technology and generally make them less susceptible to faults and more durable.
